Shoals Christian

Almon was a standout baseball player at Shoals Christian School and UNA. He helped lead the team to state back-to-back runner up finishes his freshman and sophomore seasons and semifinals his senior season. He played shortstop and pitcher. He was 2008 Times Daily 1A-3A Baseball Player of the Year and named to the All-State Team his senior season. Stats include: Senior Year: .406 Avg, 46 rbi, 43 runs, .682 slg, 107 assists, 68 po, won 7 games as a pitcher with an ERA of 2.33; Junior Year: .418 Avg, 39 rbi, 45 runs, .702 slg, 98 assists, 60 po, won 4 games as a pitcher with an ERA of 3.42; Sophomore Year: .376 Avg, 50 rbi, 50 runs, 3 hr, .577 slg, 98 assists, 55 po; 16 career hr. He played quarterback and linebacker for the football team. He helped lead his team to its first playoff berth in school history during his junior season. He helped lead the team to reach the playoffs and make it to the state quarterfinals his senior season. He made All-State Honorable Mention and Times Daily 1A-3A All Area Football Team, his junior season. He threw for more than 5,000 career passing yards with 50 touchdowns. He had 973 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in his junior and senior seasons. He averaged a double-double with 14 ppg and 11 rpg, along with 123 steals and 41 blocked shots, his senior year in basketball. He helped lead his team to the Northwest Regional Championship game at Wallace State during his sophomore season. He scored more than 900 career points. He played baseball at UNA 2009-2013. He was a two-year starter at third base in his junior and senior seasons. He was named to the Gulf South Conference All-Tournament Team in 2012, the ABCA Rawlings South Region Gold Glove Team in 2013 (the first recipient from UNA), Academic All Gulf South Conference 2012 and 2013, CoSIDA Academic All District 2012 and 2013, and the Robert E. Stephenson Award (team award for athletic and academic performance and citizenship) in 2013. He hit .301 his junior year. He had 75 career rbi’s, 74 career runs scored, 5 career homeruns. He had 102 assists and 47 po his senior year.
