He was a three-sport letterman at Johnson High School in Huntsville (football, baseball and wrestling). After completing his collegiate career, in baseball at UNA, Dunn coached 26 years in Lauderdale County, all at Waterloo High School. He began coaching career as head football coach in 1987. Won area championships in 1990 and 1991 and made three straight playoff appearances – the school’s only three playoff appearances in football. Restarted school’s football program in 2006 and has posted a four-year record of 17-19. Has overall football record of 45-53. Has been head baseball coach at Waterloo since 1985, leading Cougars to 15 area championships and 18 consecutive playoff appearances. His teams have appeared in state semifinals five times. Waterloo won the state championship in 1990 when Dunn was named Coach of the Year. Overall baseball record is 301-158.
