Fowler, Joe Frank

Fowler played at Rogers High School, but he became known as "Mr. Referee" after officiating for over 51 years. He officiated football for 34 years (1966-99), basketball for 51 years (1956-85) and baseball for 29 years (1956-85) and was involved with numerous State Tournaments. He assigned officials to games for 20 years and was the Director for the Northwest District Officials Association. Junior Colleges were established in Alabama in 1966 and Fowler called games in the JUCO league, as well as the Gulf South Conference, for more than 20 years until his retirement. He was active in training young officials. He has set
the standard for officiating In northwestern Alabama with his hustle, dedication to proper mechanics,
fairness and professionalism.
