Lauderdale County High School

Bob graduated from Lauderdale County in 1984. He was a three year starter at quarterback and his senior year he started at quarterback and safety, was named on the all county and all area teams his senior year. He began his coaching career at Lexington High School in 1991 under one of the best mentors, Coach Billy Snider. As assistant, He coached the quarterbacks and the 91 and 92 teams that made a run to quarterfinals. In 1994 he took over the head job. While at Lexington he had 6 playoff appearances.
He returned to Lauderdale County high school in 2006 and helped coach the Junior High team, in 2008 the varsity ended the season with 18 total players and the superintendent came and offered him the head coaching position. He built a welcoming environment for his players and the community. The first spring as head coach for his Alma Mater he had 114 young men try out. They had to borrow equipment from coach Briggs at Florence high school just to have enough to dress for spring practice. For 7 years they averaged over 55 players on his teams. He had a 74% winning record at Lauderdale county. He said it was a dream job from the beginning. The whole community joined in supporting him and the atmosphere was great. His team in 2012 scored a school record high with 472 points. That record stood till the 2023 team.
He was named Times Daily 1A-3A coach of the year in 2012, and also named Region 8 All Area coach of the year in 2012. He was able to produce 17 All-State players, along with 4 North-South All Star players, 9 players moving on to play college, and 3 later became coaches. After his retirement he came back and helped Coach Jeff Mason as offensive coordinator and had 2 more playoff runs. His overall record is 117-76 in seventeen years as a head football coach. 64-22 at Lauderdale County.
