Grisham, Earl

Lauderdale County

He was always a winner. He knew how to win when he was a standout running back at Lauderdale County High school. He won again when he attended college and certainly won during an impressive career as a head football coach. He was a four¬year starter for the Tigers, scoring 43 touchdowns during his high school career. Twenty-one of those touchdowns were tallied during his senior season. He made the All Tri-CountyTeam twice and was team captain during his final two seasons. He participated in the state AII-State Football Game in 1954. His ability earned him a scholarship to the University of North Alabama. He was moved to wide receiver but still lettered for the Lions. He transferred to Itawamba Junior College before returning to the University of North Alabama to finish his career in 1958. He was a head coach on the high school level from 1958 until retiring in 1991. Grisham returned home to LCHS in 1966 and put together a 156-105-3 record. His 1974 team won the State Championship. The Tigers advanced to the State Playoffs nine times, and won four area championships.
