Harrison, Steve

He lettered four years in football and three years in basketball and baseball at Brooks as the school began its athletic programs. In 1971, he averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds to earn a spot on the all-area basketball team, and led the Lions football team with 28 catches for 628 yards. He was the first player to walk-on in college. He served as a volunteer football coach and later as an assistant cross country coach for three years at Brooks. The first two cross country teams finished second in the state, with the third team winning the school’s first state championship. He coached baseball and basketball in the Killen youth league programs. He has been the public address announcer for 20 years at UNA, 31 years at Braly Stadium and 25 years for the Division II National Championship Game. He has been the emcee for the Harlon Hill Trophy banquet since 2000. He is founder and president of the Lauderdale County Sports Hall of Fame, which was formed in 2000
