Coffee
He lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track at Coffee. He has played and coached football on all levels, Pee Wee, high school, college and professional. He is currently a coach at Meridianville Middle School. He played football at Coffee, Mississippi State and for the Huntsville Rockets and Alabama Hawks of the professional Continental League. He was All-Tri-Cities, All-Tennessee Valley Conference and All-State at Coffee (1956 graduate). He was also the most valuable back at the North-South All-Star game. At Mississippi State, he started three seasons at quarterback and played both offense and defense. He punted and returned kicks as well as being the holder on place kicks. He was Mississippi State's MVP and was named Third Team All-SEC. He coached high school football in Louisiana and in three schools in the Huntsville area. He also coached at Florence State, was on Bear Bryant's staff, coaching the likes of Steve Sloan, Ray Perkins, Jackie Sherrill and Joe Namath. He played or coached football for 41 years.
