Humphrey, Mark

Central High School

Mark was a 1985 Central High School baseball and football standout. He had a batting average of .433 sophomore year, .479 his junior year, and .439 his senior year. He had 30 career homeruns. He pitched 77 strike outs his senior year. He was WOWL TV 15 Player of the week multiple times, All Area 3 years, All County 3 years, and 1984 Times Daily Player of the Year. As a senior he played in the North/South- Lauderdale/Colbert County All-Star game with 6-k's in 2 innings. He played in the East/West- Decatur All-Star game with 6 k's in 2 innings. In football he was named 4A/5A/6A- All County Team 3 Years, 4A/5A/6A- All Area Team 2 Years, and 4/A Allstate Honorable Mention- (Top Option QB) in the State. During his senior year he rushed for 1003 yards on 115 carries 21 TD's (8.72 YPC) and passed for 579 yards with 9 TD’s. He played defense at free safety and had 6 interceptions, lead the area on kickoff returns. He signed a scholarship to play with Auburn University (85-86). He returned to UNA 86-89 to play TB, WR, FB, and his Senior year QB. He made Gulf South Conference- Offensive Player of the week against Livingston (1989).
