Ingram, Janet (Pridgeon)

Lexington

She began participating on the varsity level as a seventh-grader in 1975, setting county records in the mile relay and 440 dash events. The next year she made the All-Lauderdale County volleyball learn, named to the honorable mention Girls Sports Conference team, being the school and county MVP in track. She won the 440 dash, 440 relay, mile relay and high jump competitions in the county meet. In 1977, she was a key player in Lexington's run to the county and sectional volleyball tournaments as well as a fourth-place finish in the state volleyball meet. She also helped the Bears to the county track title by becoming MVP again for the county and her team. She qualified for the state in three events, finishing in the top four in each. As a sophomore, she lettered in three sports again and became an all-area performer in basketball. She led Lexington to the 2A state volleybaIl championship as a junior, earning recognition on several all-star teams. She also finished second in the 220 dash and fourth in the high jump at the state meet. Similar success followed her into her senior season. She was honored with MVP, Hustle and Sportmanship awards in high school and college.
