Six hundred and twenty-nine wins! That's the number of victories Jerry Kelsoe contributed during his tenure as a basketball and baseball coach at Central High School. He launched a highly successful girls
basketball program at the school. His teams compiled a 306-175 record during his 21 seasons. His team won the 3A Championship in 1994 as he became the 3A Coach of the Year. His teams advanced to the state tournament nine times. He was the TimesDaily Coach of the Year in 1984 and 1994. As Central's Head Baseball Coach for seven years, the Wildcats posted a 110¬39 record, finishing runner-ups in the state in 1976 and 1977. He had a 162-46 record as B- Team boys' basketball coach. Included in that effort were two undefeated seasons as his team won the county championship in eight of nine years. He won the first 48 games he coached.
