McCormick, Tim

He achieved All-State status during his two seasons as a starter at Central High School. He also played as a sophomore. His teams' three-year record was 78-12, with county and area championships each year. Central advanced to the state tournament finals in 1977, his senior year. He was a model of consistency during his junior and senior seasons as he was the team leader. He averaged just over 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists per game. He shot just over 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line. He was the Shoals Area Player of the Year in 1977 in addition to making All-State, All-County, All-Region and numerous other all-star teams. He was also a three-year starter as pitcher and shortstop for the Central baseball team, which had a combined record of 49-14. The team advanced to the state semifinals in 1976 and to the championship game in 1977. He later became a key player in UNA's national championship team in 1979. The Lions advanced to the Final Four in 1980 and the Elite Eight in 1981.
