Michael, Gary Wayne

Lexington

Gary played baseball, basketball, and football at Lexington from 1968-1972. As a freshman he Area All-Tournament basketball team. As a sophomore he started on the varsity baseball team as a pitcher and shortstop. In his junior year he averaged 10 points per game for the basketball team. He had a batting average of .391, 4 homeruns, and 6-2 pitching record. He was selected to the East / West Lion’s Club All Star baseball game. As a senior he played in multiple positions on the football team- quarterback, linebacker, punter, field goal kicker, and PAT kicker. He passed for 5 touchdowns, rushed for 2, and kicked 5 PAT’s. In basketball he averaged 13 points per game and was selected to the All Area Basketball Team. In baseball his batting average was .514, 5 homeruns, and had 2 strikeouts per inning. He was selected to the East / West Lion’s Club, Decatur, and Birmingham All Star games. He finished the All Star games with a pitching record of 7-1. He played at Calhoun Community College 1972-1973. He played in the Lexington Semi-Pro League 1973-1975. He played softball 1975-1985 with numerous teams across the Southeast. He coached Dixie Youth baseball and City League baseball until 1993.
