Rhodes, Harold

Basketball has always came easy for Harold Rhodes. Anyone who has seen him play won't argue the point.
He was a smooth operator during his three-year high school career at Bradshaw, scoring 1.958 points along the way. He led the Bruins to the state tournament as a junior and later became a Prep All-American selection. He scored 53 points in one game and averaged 31 points per game as a senior. He was selected All-City. All-County, All-Regional and All-State as junior and senior with the Bruins. In 1973, Rhodes went to Amarillo Junior College in Texas and become a JUCO All-American performer there by averaging 26 points during his two years there. He made 51 free throws in a row at one point.
His next stop was at Washington State. He was the Cougar's sixth man during his first year there, but scored in double figures 10 times. He become on All-Pac 8 selection during the 1977 season after leading his team in scoring (18.1 points), field-goal average, steals and minutes played. He won the Bill Rush Award for inspiration. He was drafted in the eighth round by the Portland Trailblazers. He returned to Washington State the next year and was promoted to head women's coach in 1983. He became the Pac-10 Coach of the Year in 1991, and coached the Pac-10 All-Star teams in 1988-92 during trips to Germany, France, New Zealand, Austria, Hungary and Belgium.
