Swoopes, Patrick

Bradshaw

He was an All-American at Bradshaw High School and Mississippi Stale and played eight seasons in the National Football League. At Bradshaw, he was AII-Region in 1980, 1981 and 1982, All-Slate in 1981 and 1982, honorable mention All-State in 1980, and Blue Chip All-American in 1982. He signed with Mississippi State in 1982 and became a four-year letterman on the defensive line. He was named All¬SEC in 1983, 1984 and 1985 and All-American in 1984. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 1985 and played there though the 1990 season. He played one year in Kansas City and one in Miami. He was the Saints' player of the week three times in 1987 and twice in 1989.
