He was a 6’7” All-State performer at Mars Hill High School. He was injured his junior year. Stats are for his sophomore and senior seasons. He averaged 24.9 ppg his sophomore year. His team won the Area 16 Championship in his senior year. He made All-Tournament team and Birmingham Post Herald All-State team. He averaged 24.9 ppg with a game high of 40 points. On a special note, his senior year MHS defeated the eventual 4A State Champion Coffee High School 73-66. Tyon scored 33 points. He signed to play with UNA. He scored in double figures nine times his freshman year. He led the team in scoring in his sophomore year. Stats include 13.8 ppg (.565 fg pct and .726 ft pct), 5.6 rpg, 29 assists, 8 blocked shots, his sophomore year. He ranks #8 on the 1,000-point club with 1,203 points. He is listed twice for Top Single Individual Scoring.
