Watkins, Hayward

Although he was only 5'8" tall, Watkins averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds per game, amazing statistics for a point guard. He also was selected to the All-State Team. He was an outstanding pitcher in baseball, averaging 9 strikeouts per game and he played in 1955 through 1957 seasons. But he had great performances after his high school days as a boxer and his years in the military were the basis for his boxing career. He was the welterweight champion of 9 battalions while stationed in South Carolina and currently resides in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
