Wright, Matt

Wright was chosen as 1A Basketball State Player of the Year in 1988 while helping Mars Hill to the state semifinals. He averaged 19 ppg and 16 rpg. He made All-County, All-Area, All-State teams his junior and senior years. He averaged 14 ppg and 12 rpg his junior season. He also played baseball for four years. His batting average improved from .294 to .434 his senior season. He played first baseman and did a little pitching. He signed a scholarship to play basketball at Samford University.
